They are a time for the team to be treated to lunch, which can be anything from <em>Sushi</em> to <em>Pizza</em>, and to take part in interactive learning about a industry relevant topic.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">In the past we have welcomed speakers from <a href="http://www.fusepump.com/blog/7thingsmedia-lunch-and-learn-fusepump" target="_blank">Fusepump</a> and <a href="https://www.sociomantic.com/" target="_blank">Sociomantic </a>among others. For these events we also draw on the wealth of expertise within the agency, for example taking the agency through recent <a href="http://www.7thingsmedia.com/seo/" target="_blank">SEO</a> innovations post-Panda update, check out some pictures from our <a href="https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150923407831822.398779.130486236821&amp;type=1" target="_blank">Facebook page</a>.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">The most recent Lunch and Learn was led by our <strong>Finance Director</strong>, Andrew Craig. The session covered off both personal and business finance and included discussions on making the wisest <strong>investment decisions</strong>.</p>

<p>On Wednesday, May 15th 7thingsmedia was thrilled to be a part of &#8220;Fashion 2.0: Retail &amp; Big Data&#8221; which tackled some of the issues surrounding the online and offline retail space. The event was led by a panel which included Amy Jain (Co-founder, @<a href="https://twitter.com/BaubleBar">Baublebar</a>), Elyse Estrada (Manager of Client Services, @<a href="https://twitter.com/foursquare">Foursquare</a>), Florent Peyre (Co-Founder &amp; COO, @<a href="https://twitter.com/Placemeter">Placemeter</a>), Jason Schiffman (Founder, @<a href="https://twitter.com/PerchInteract">PerchInteractive</a>), and Elizabeth Holmes (Reporter, @<a href="https://twitter.com/WSJ">WallStreetJournal</a>).</p>
<p>Starting with privacy and the customer experience, the panelists discussed the boundaries of a company&#8217;s knowledge of their consumer&#8217;s shopping habits both on- and offline. Discussing the increasing frequency of use of technology by the younger generations, which directly correlates with an increase in shared available data, the idea of transparency in the collection of that data was pivotal.</p>
<p>When it comes to privacy, it is important to be transparent with the data retailers obtain from customers. Amy Jain (Baublebar) summarized the general sentiment when she said, “For us, it’s about being upfront about when, why and how were gathering data and using it to help her shop.”</p>
<p>The next focal point of the conversation was the future of retail space. With technology being at the forefront, will brick and mortar stores become secondary to their online counterparts? Furthermore, will the success of online retail surpass that of traditional retail?</p>
<p>While the panelists reinforced the importance of maintaining the art of merchandising, they also understood that that fashion is beginning the push towards the digital realm. Customers want both the experience of being able to purchase with the ease of a button as well as physically feeling and falling in love with an item in store.</p>
<p>Elyse Estrada (Foursquare) along with Elizabeth Holmes (WSJ) emphasized how the consumer experience in store can and should be enhanced through the digital experience.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Tuesday evening saw the 7<sup>th</sup> annual Performance Marketing Awards take place at the glamorous Grovsner House Hotel on Park Lane. In attendance were over 800 performance marketing professionals to celebrate the outstanding work within the industry over the past year. As ever, <a href="http://performancein.com/">PerformanceIN</a> put on a great night and it was definitely a night to remember.</p>

<p>The event was hosted by British stand-up comedian Josh Widdicombe, and guests were also treated to a champagne reception and tasty three course dinner. The evening also saw entertainment from DJ Jukebox and a live band and some shapes were definitely thrown on the dancefloor later on…</p>
<p>But of course it isn’t all about being wined and dined, the aim of the evening is to honour the finest work within the growing industry, which was valued by PricewaterhouseCoopers at over <strong>£9 billion</strong> in 2012.</p>
<p>With a grand total of 31 awards, it was great to see networks, agencies, advertisers and publishers within the performance industry receive recognition for the outstanding and innovative work conducted globally. The judging panel consisted of 23 leaders and innovators within the field, and the feedback was the standard of entries this year was its highest yet!</p>
<p>For 7thingsmedia it was a particularly successful evening, having successfully defended our title of &#8216;<strong>Best Agency</strong>&#8216; for a third year in a row. Winning the award came as an honour, beating competition from the likes of  Arena Media, LBi, MEC, Mindshare and Starcom MediaVest. This accolade has truly cemented 7thingsmedia&#8217;s position within the global digital media power agencies.</p>

<p>7thingsmedia reported a<strong> 170% revenue growth in 2012</strong> and continues to expand its staff across affiliates, display, lead generation, mobile, PPC, SEO and social media within the London &amp; New York offices.</p>

<p>Upon entering the lush 5th Avenue store, bloggers were directed to the second floor where they were treated to scones, lemon tarts, mini sandwiches, and tea. They were each able to have a personal tour of Ted’s store which is designed to represent a typical New York townhouse with each floor transitioning into a different room.</p>
<p>While browsing the new collection, bloggers were able to tweet <a href="https://twitter.com/ted_bakerUSA">@Ted_BakerUSA</a> using hashtag #Ted5thAve and instagram @Ted_Baker. In addition, bloggers were presented with a 25% off discount for the night.</p>

<p>The team representing the agency, Chris Sumner, Robyn Blake and Fiona Gandy arrived bright and early to set up for what promised to be a busy day!</p>

<p>Managing Director of <a href="http://www.linkshare.com/" target="_blank">Linkshare </a>Mark Haviland kicked off proceedings with a welcoming speech which was followed by a packed agenda of talks and presentations. One of the highlights for the team was the insightful keynote from Ashley Freiden CEO <a href="http://econsultancy.com/uk" target="_blank">Econsultancy</a>, who discussed future digital strategies and highlighted the importance of quality content.</p>
<p>It was non-stop all day with the 7thingsmedia team hosting the DealMaker table, meeting new advertisers and publishers and catching up with some friendly industry faces. The 7thingsmedia fridge was fully stocked with Red Bull and Budweiser to fuel proceedings into the afternoon!</p>

<p style="text-align: left;">Ben kicked off the day by attending a talk on AdWords enhanced campaigns titled ‘The good the bad the ugly’. After his <a href="http://www.affiliates4u.com/news/2013/04/searching-silver-lining-adwords-style/" target="_blank">recent article</a> published by <a href="http://www.affiliates4u.com/" target="_blank">A4u</a> about Enhanced Campaigns, he strongly agreed with the analysis and overview that this talk provided. The talk was full of insightful tips on managing structural integration and smart usage of mobile site link extensions. The idea that a lot of small advertisers won’t take seriously the impact of Enhanced Campaigns and thus impact CPCs was interesting  and something that will be fascinating to track in the coming months.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">While at the event we also went to see Former head of Participation for the UK Government, Tiffany St James, speak on practical digital strategies.It was an interesting and insightful talk where she applied <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transtheoretical_model" target="_blank">transtheoretical</a> behavior change model to effective digital strategies.</p>

<p style="text-align: left;">One element that Tiffany reinforced was the importance of “<em>content with context</em>”. We all know that &#8220;<em>content is king&#8221;</em> however what is often left out of strategy is the context to give this content the traction it deserves. A great site which she also mentioned was <a href="http://www.informationisbeautiful.net/" target="_blank">Information is Beautiful</a>, definitely worth a look.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">As we left Ben was delighted to meet a <a href="http://www.nandos.co.uk/" target="_blank">Nandos</a> chicken, a brilliant end to a great day. Already looking forward to Internet World 2014!</p>
